How Manchester United could line up against Liverpool

How Man United could line up against Liverpool

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is hoping that Luke Shaw and Jadon Sancho will both be available for Sunday's Premier League contest with Liverpool at Anfield.

The pair were missing from Wednesday's FA Cup fifth-round win over West Ham United, with Sancho suffering from an illness while Shaw took a knock in last weekend's EFL Cup final.

All of Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen are guaranteed to miss out for the Red Devils, whose number one David de Gea could be protected by a much-changed backline from Wednesday's game.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez will all return after being benched in midweek, while Tyrell Malacia will drop out for Shaw if the Englishman can prove his fitness.

Brazilian duo Casemiro and Fred are also primed to come back into the first XI at the heart of the midfield, with Bruno Fernandes wearing the captain's armband from the number 10 position.

Despite his sublime goal in midweek, Alejandro Garnacho will certainly make way for Marcus Rashford, as Antony and Wout Weghorst also occupy spots in the final third.

Should Rashford find the back of the net on Sunday, he would become only the fourth Man United player to score in six successive Premier League matches after Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Fred; Antony, Fernandes, Rashford; Weghorst
