Harry Maguire sets sights on leading Manchester United to Premier League title

Man United's Harry Maguire insists that a top-four finish in the Premier League is a "minimum requirement", although he hopes the club can soon become title challengers.

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has insisted that a top-four finish in the Premier League is a "minimum requirement" although he hopes the club can soon become title challengers.

The Red Devils beat Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium last week to secure third spot in the Premier League and ensure their place in next season's Champions League.

United still have a chance of silverware this campaign if they can go all the way and win the Europa League and Maguire hopes that winning trophies will become a regular occurrence at Old Trafford.

"That's why I joined this club. I joined this club to play Champions League football," the 27-year-old told MUTV.

"Now we are third in the league everyone is going to go 'well, it's expected for Manchester United', but at the start of the season no-one fancied us to reach the top four but we've worked hard, we've improved and I think that's the main thing this season.

"We set a target of the top four as a minimum requirement, we had great belief that we would get there. We have left it late but we've got there in the end. It's not what we want in the future. The future is all about winning trophies and winning Premier Leagues. The main thing this season is to see the improvement from last season, and it's been enormous."

Maguire played every minute of every match for United in the Premier League this season, where he scored once and helped keep 13 clean sheets.
