Man United lineup vs. Sunderland: Predicted XI for Premier League clash

Casemiro return, Amad boost: Predicted Man Utd lineup vs. Sunderland

Manchester United will be without two players for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Sunderland at Old Trafford.

While Lisandro Martinez is still recovering from a long-term knee injury that has kept him sidelined since February, Noussair Mazraoui is ruled out until after October's international break with a thigh problem.

However, Casemiro is available to return from a one-match suspension, while Amad Diallo - who missed Man United’s 3-1 defeat at Brentford last weekend due to a family bereavement - is also expected to feature in the matchday squad as he has taken part in training this week.

Under-fire head coach Ruben Amorim will weigh up whether to hand new goalkeeper Senne Lammens his Premier League debut or stick with Altay Bayindir, who has kept just three clean sheets in 17 senior games for the Red Devils in all competitions.

Amorim was unimpressed by Man United’s defensive display against Brentford and replaced two of his three centre-backs in the second half. With that in mind, Leny Yoro could be recalled to replace either Matthijs de Ligt or Harry Maguire, most likely the latter.

Diego Dalot and Patrick Dorgu are expected to retain their starting spots at wing-back, while Casemiro will battle with Manuel Ugarte for a start in centre-midfield alongside captain Bruno Fernandes, who has recorded five goals and six assists in his last nine games against newly-promoted teams.

Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko are all set to continue in the final third, but Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee will be pushing for a recall following an uninspiring start to the new season from Amorim’s trio of summer signings.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: Bayindir; Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw; Dalot, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha; Sesko
