Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 'Donny van de Beek is currently unhappy at Manchester United'

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer concedes that Donny van de Beek is currently unhappy at the club.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has conceded that Donny van de Beek is currently unhappy with his playing time at the club.

The Netherlands international has only made two Premier League starts for the Red Devils since arriving from Ajax during last summer's transfer window.

The 23-year-old has not been involved in the league since December 20, meanwhile, but he has featured on 21 occasions in all competitions, including in all six of the club's group-stage Champions League fixtures.

Solskjaer has admitted that the Dutchman is not content with his playing situation but has backed the midfielder to become an important player for the club.

"I wouldn't say that Donny is happy. Of course, he wants to play more, but he gets about his job in the right manner. He reminds me a lot about myself, when I first came in, that he understands my difficulties and challenges," The Mirror quotes Solskjaer as saying.

"We are doing well and have got players who are playing really well in his position. I was the same with Sir Alex [Ferguson]. When he left me out I understood and I was happy for the team to win - and Donny is that type of guy.

"He knows he is important for us and knows he is going to play many games. He will definitely be involved in this game against Liverpool and he might be the deciding factor in the game. He trusts his own quality. He is a quietly confident guy who deep down knows he is good enough and is just waiting for his opportunity."

United have allegedly rejected a number of loan approaches for the summer arrival this month.
