Morgan Schneiderlin hails Southampton character after Manchester United win

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin hails the character displayed by his team as they beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has praised his side's character after the club earned their first league victory in 27 years over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Ronald Koeman's men were thankful for some clinical finishing from winger Dusan Tadic, while hosts United saw midfielder Juan Mata miss three crucial chances.

"We have played well here before and we deserved a win. It's just a fantastic feeling," Schneiderlin told Sky Sports after the game.

"Character was key, we went through a very tough patch in December and we showed good spirit and showed we believe in ourselves and in each other and that we can do something great this season.

"People were writing us off at the start of the season but we will take things game by game and see where we are at the end of the season. We must not get carried away."

Victory now sees Southampton sitting in third position in the Premier League table, one place above Louis van Gaal's men.
