Savage: Manchester United at a "new low"

Robbie Savage believes that Manchester United plunged to a "new low" with their 2-0 reverse to Olympiacos on Tuesday night.

The Premier League champions slumped to a miserable defeat in Greece and Savage thinks that manager David Moyes needs to arrest the slump as soon as possible or face the sack.

He told The Mirror: "As much as I like David Moyes and I want him to do well, the evidence is starting to pile up against him. But the 2-0 defeat against Olympiacos was not just a tipping point for the fans' patience.

"But Moyes's biggest drawbacks are the ones which held him back at Everton. In 11 years on Merseyside, he never won at Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or Old Trafford, and never won a trophy. He has yet to lay those ghosts and it will damage United until he does.

"Following the most successful boss (Sir Alex Ferguson) in British football history was always an impossible task and Moyes deserves more time to pull it round. But the empire is rocking and the clock is ticking."

Moyes's side are currently sixth in the Premier League, 15 points behind leaders Chelsea.
