Mike Phelan to be moved on by Man United?

Manchester United coach Mike Phelan is reportedly set to leave the club as part of a reshuffle by incoming boss Erik ten Hag.

On Monday, the Red Devils confirmed the appointments of assistant coaches Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McLaren, the former of whom joining from Ajax along with Ten Hag.

The Daily Mail now claims that both Phelan and interim boss Ralf Rangnick will leave the club's coaching team, and the futures of other members of staff will also be reviewed.

The report adds that Phelan may remain at United in some capacity, depending on the outcome of discussions held with the club's hierarchy.

Phelan, who made over 100 appearances for United as a player between 1989 and 1994, is a well-respected figure at Old Trafford and was an assistant coach under Sir Alex Ferguson for five years before returning to the club in 2019 with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rangnick, meanwhile, will take on his advisory role this summer which will coincide with his managerial duties with the Austrian national team.
