Everton defender Phil Jagielka tells the club to look forward following the news that manager David Moyes will take over at Manchester United next season.

Everton defender Phil Jagielka has urged the club to react positively following the news that manager David Moyes will leave for Manchester United next season.

Moyes, who has been with the Toffees since 2002, was announced as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Old Trafford on Thursday.

"Like the rest of the squad I have nothing but the highest regard for David Moyes," Jagielka told the club's official website. "It was as much of a shock to the dressing room as I'm sure it was to Everton and our fans.

"Once the season is over we can collectively look forward in order to ensure we continue to build on the positive work of the past few seasons."

Moyes will be in charge of Everton for their final two games of the season, starting with the visit of West Ham United to Goodison Park on Sunday.
