Alex Ferguson 'hurt at being ignored by Manchester United'

Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly feels increasingly isolated since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed Manchester United boss, having tipped Mauricio Pochettino for the job.

Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly feels let down by Manchester United after being ignored over the permanent appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 77-year-old guided the Red Devils to 39 trophies during his 26 years in charge, including the Premier League title in his final season six years ago.

United have not finished top of the division since then and have just endured their worst campaign since their legendary former manager stepped down, finishing sixth in the top flight and without a trophy in any of the other competitions.

Solskjaer was brought in to replace Jose Mourinho in December, initially on a caretaker basis and then permanently towards the end of the campaign.

According to the Daily Mail, however, Ferguson wanted Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino to be appointed, and he feels a sense of hurt that the club no longer calls on his counsel.

The report indicates that, while Fergie does not hold anything against Solskjaer, he feels increasingly isolated since the Norwegian was recruited.
