Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson 'wants David Moyes to replace him'

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson would reportedly prefer Everton boss David Moyes to take the reins at Old Trafford when the 70-year-old retires.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly open to Everton boss David Moyes taking over at Old Trafford when the 70-year-old decides to retire.

Talk over Ferguson's successor has been at the forefront in recent months, with some reports claiming that the Red Devils boss is considering his future at the illustrious club.

The likes of former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola and Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho have been linked with the position but it is believed that Ferguson is leaning towards Moyes.

"He actually has two preferred choices – David Moyes and Jose Mourinho," The Express quotes a source as saying.

"Moyes and Fergie are close and Fergie begrudgingly admires how Moyes has outfoxed him and many other teams over the years. Fergie admires Jose greatly but there are concerns that Jose's manner and media links could make him become bigger than the club."

Meanwhile, the North West outfit currently sit at the top of the Premier League table with 42 points.
