Sir Alex Ferguson blames agent for Paul Pogba's Manchester United exit

Sir Alex Ferguson blames Paul Pogba's agent Mino Raiola for the midfielder's exit in 2012.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has blamed agent Mino Raiola for Paul Pogba's departure from Old Trafford in 2012.

The 22-year-old Frenchman left the Red Devils to join Juventus on a free transfer after rejecting a new contract.

Now, Pogba is said to be valued by Juve at around £70m and has been linked to football's elite, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City.

In his new book Leading, Ferguson wrote: "There are one or two football agents I simply do not like, and Mino Raiola is one of them. I distrusted him from the moment I met him.

"We had Paul under a three-year contract, and it had a one-year renewal option which we were eager to sign. Raiola suddenly appeared on the scene and our first meeting was a fiasco. He and I were like oil and water.

"From then our goose was cooked because Raiola had been able to integrate himself with Paul and his family and the player signed with Juventus."

Pogba spent three years at Old Trafford.
