Netherlands boss Danny Blind: 'Memphis Depay not a team player'

Netherlands boss Danny Blind claims that Manchester United's Memphis Depay is 'not a team player' after leaving the 21-year-old out of his latest international squad.

Netherlands boss Danny Blind has branded Manchester United attacker Memphis Depay 'not a team player' after leaving the 21-year-old out of his latest squad.

The former PSV Eindhoven winger has not been included in Blind's squad for the upcoming friendlies against Wales and Germany, which will take place on November 11 and November 17 respectively.

Depay's form at Man United has also seen him lose his spot in the first XI in recent weeks and Blind has omitted the attacker from his latest selection, along with the European nation's all-time leading scorer Robin van Persie, who has struggled in Turkey this season.

"In football you must function in a team. He doesn't always do that. I think Depay is a player for the future, but there are other issues to look at. Perhaps Louis van Gaal has also said something," Blind, who failed to lead Netherlands to Euro 2016, told reporters.

Depay, who has scored three times in 20 appearances for his country, missed Man United's 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace at the weekend through injury.
