Saturday's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup: Hakan Calhanoglu, Sergio Romero, Kalidou Koulibaly

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Manchester United on Saturday, October 31.

A frustrating summer transfer window has now closed with Manchester United having missed out on a number of their top targets, including Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils were busy on deadline day, though, bringing in Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri, in addition to agreeing a deal to sign Amad Traore in January. Attention will now switch to other business they may do when the window reopens in the winter.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.

Saturday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:

Manchester United 'willing to double Hakan Calhanoglu wages'

Manchester United target Hakan Calhanoglu would reportedly see his wages doubles if he completes a switch to Old Trafford from AC Milan.

With the Turkey international's contract at the San Siro expiring next summer, a number of clubs are believed to be preparing for an intense battle to secure Calhanoglu's signature in 2021.

United are supposedly keen on bringing Calhanoglu to the Premier League, with the Red Devils said to be hopeful of tying the 26-year-old down to a five-year deal in the red side of Manchester.

AC Milan are not giving up without a fight, though, as Todofichajes claim that the Serie A powerhouses have tabled a three-year contract worth €3m (£2.7m) per season for Calhanoglu to stay on, but United have been in contact with the player's representatives and are willing to double his salary.

With the former Bayer Leverkusen man in the final year of his existing deal with Milan and reportedly rejecting the Rossoneri's offer of a new contract, the prospect of signing Calhanoglu as a free agent would represent an ideal piece of business for United in this period of financial uncertainty.

Calhanoglu already boasts four goals and four assists in all competitions this season.

Sergio Romero move to Inter Miami falls through?

Manchester United outcast Sergio Romero could reportedly be set to see out his contract with the Red Devils after a move to MLS side Inter Miami fell through.

The Argentine, who was linked with a move away in the summer, appears to have played his final game for the 20-time English champions after being left out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Premier League and Champions League squads.

With Romero now fourth choice behind David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Lee Grant, the 33-year-old was understood to be hopeful of securing a move to the MLS with David Beckham's Inter Miami.

However, according to the Daily Mail, talks with the North American outfit went nowhere and Romero is now facing the prospect of another season at Old Trafford, with his current deal set to expire in 2021.

Romero could still leave the club in the January transfer window, though, and the 33-year-old is allegedly hopeful that the Red Devils will agree to terminate his contract in order to allow him to depart sooner.

The former Sampdoria man has turned out 61 times for United in all competitions, but has not made a top-flight appearance since the 2017-18 season.
