Fulham vs. Man United: Ruben Amorim delivers injury update as Red Devils head coach faces major Andre Onana decision

Amorim facing major Onana decision as Man United injury update is provided

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has revealed that Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui will again be sidelined for Sunday's Premier League clash against Fulham, but Andre Onana is available for selection.

Martinez has been out since February with a serious knee injury, and while the Argentina international has returned to light training, it will be some time before he is able to return.

Mazraoui, meanwhile, picked up a hamstring issue during the team's opening match of pre-season against Leeds United, and he remains unavailable for selection with the muscular problem.

Onana is fit, though, and the Cameroon international has had more training sessions this week, with the hamstring issue that he suffered during pre-season now believed to be fully healed.

Altay Bayindir was given the nod between the sticks against Arsenal on the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign, and the Turkey international made an error which led to the only goal of the match.

Martinez, Mazraoui remain sidelined for Man United vs. Fulham

"Onana is ready to play like last week, so we will see in the game who is going to be the goalkeeper. Licha is out, Nous is out. The rest of the guys are fit," Amorim told reporters during his pre-match press conference.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Amorim is giving serious consideration to recalling Onana for the game at Craven Cottage, with the Cameroonian still thought to be viewed as Man United's number one.

The report claims that Amorim is currently leaning towards selecting Onana between the sticks.

The former Inter Milan goalkeeper has struggled during his two seasons in Manchester, making a string of high-profile errors, and there has been speculation surrounding his future this summer.

Man United are still believed to be working to bring a new goalkeeper to Old Trafford, with Royal Antwerp's Senne Lammens the main target in that area of the field, rather than Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Amorim expecting "tough match" against Fulham

Amorim also said that he is expecting "a tough match" against Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

"I think it's always hard to play against Fulham. They have a clear identity, Marco Silva is really smart and they are really comfortable because they have experience and understand the league. It will be a tough match, but every game in the schedule is tough to play," said the Man United head coach.

"We are better, but also because we have different characteristics and we can change that during the game. We have more options and you see we play a different style with [Matheus] Cunha, for example, and then in the end with [Benjamin] Sesko because he is a different player and we can use.

"We are improving in that department also. We are creating more chances, so we are ready for any kind of game. The biggest improvement we had [vs Arsenal] was we didn't lose the ball so many times in build-up. That was really good also for our team."

Sesko is in line to make his full debut for Man United on Sunday, with the centre-forward featuring off the bench in the narrow defeat to Arsenal.
