Samir Nasri: 'Manchester City need major strengthening this summer'

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri wants to see Manuel Pellegrini bring in further recruits this summer in order to challenge for titles both at home and abroad.

Samir Nasri has suggested that Manchester City must "strengthen in every area" if they are to challenge for major honours next season.

The Citizens fell short both at home and in Europe last term, finishing second in the Premier League, exiting both domestic cup competitions early on and once more failing to leave their mark in the Champions League.

City have been linked with a number of high-profile names in recent weeks, including both Paul Pogba and Raheem Sterling, and Nasri admits that a revamp will be required this summer.

"Who we need is a question for the manager but if we want to be competitive in every competition - and take a step forward in the Champions League - we need to strengthen in every area," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

"We will probably lose some players, so we need to have that depth from the bench."

The two-time Premier League champions get their 2015-16 campaign underway with an away match at West Bromwich Albion.
