Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has allegedly been offered to Real Madrid.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that the Portugal international's legendary stint at the Etihad Stadium would come to an end once 2025-26 is complete.
After amassing 453 appearances, six Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy, the 31-year-old is ready for a new challenge.
In the past, Bernardo has made no secret of the fact that he wishes to return to Benfica at some point before the end of his career.
Nevertheless, as per AS, there remains the possibility of a transfer to another European giant.
Are Real Madrid interested in Bernardo Silva?
The report alleges that agent Jorge Mendes has offered the playmaker to Real Madrid, who are known to be in the market for new midfielders.
Acquiring a player of Bernardo's quality and experience on a free transfer would theoretically make sense to Real Madrid when they need to undergo a rebuild in some areas of the pitch.
However, it is claimed that Los Blancos officials currently have no plans to try to sign Bernardo ahead of 2026-27.
That is despite the report acknowledging that Real Madrid chiefs hold an 'appreciation' for his ability and influence.
Barcelona are also said to have been offered the chance to sign Bernardo, albeit it unclear whether that is a realistic possibility at the present time.
Bernardo Silva will not be short of offers
While he is focused on trying to deliver the treble for Man City before his departure, Bernardo will not necessarily entertain proposals for the foreseeable future.
There will come a time, however, when he will be inundated with offers from clubs who will view him as the coup of the summer.
Assuming that he does not want to return to Ligue 1, where he has already represented Monaco, any of the big clubs in La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga are options, alongside Benfica.
Interest may also come from Saudi Arabia, where Portuguese compatriots Ruben Neves and Cristiano Ronaldo have excelled since their arrivals in the Middle East.
As it stands, it feels highly unlikely that Bernardo would consider representing another Premier League club.
