How Manchester City could line up against Brentford

How Man City could line up against Brentford

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that he has all of his players available for Monday's Premier League clash with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The only member of the Citizens' squad to sit out the midweek beating of Burnley was Manuel Akanji, but the defender has now been passed fit again following a knee problem.

With no stricken athletes in the treatment room, Guardiola has a plethora of tricky selection calls to make for Monday's game, notably in the final third between Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland.

The former notched a brace in the win over Burnley and certainly does not deserve to be demoted, but Guardiola has confirmed that Haaland is now fit to start, and a recall for the Golden Boot holder is surely in order.

With Kevin De Bruyne also back pulling the strings in the number 10 position, Alvarez may have to be content with a spot among the substitutes, as Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva - the latter potentially coming in for Jeremy Doku - line up out wide.

Matheus Nunes was rightly lauded for his energetic display against Burnley and should reprise his role in midfield alongside Rodri, but Guardiola should not be averse to making a couple of defensive alterations.

Kyle Walker and Ruben Dias were both given complete rests in midweek and are in line to displace Rico Lewis and Josko Gvardiol, while Nathan Ake and John Stones ought to join them as Ederson's four-man shield.

Manchester City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Stones, Ake; Nunes, Rodri; Silva, De Bruyne, Foden; Haaland
