Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester United

Man City injury, suspension list vs. Man United

Seeking to bounce back from their midweek EFL Cup exit, Manchester City lock horns with rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.

The Citizens were second best as they suffered a 2-0 defeat away against Southampton on Wednesday night, with Pep Guardiola's side failing to register a single shot on target for the first time in over three years.

Their next fixture is the small matter of the Manchester derby, the beginning of a challenging schedule which also includes two games each against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal within the next month.

City head into Saturday's clash five points behind the Gunners at the Premier League summit, and here, Sports Mole rounds up their latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Erik ten Hag's side.

John Stones

Status: Out Type of injury: Fitness Possible return date: January 19 vs. Tottenham Hotspur

John Stones missed the defeat against Southampton as he was not deemed fully fit for the trip to St Mary's, and Guardiola has since confirmed that the defender is "not ready" to return to face Man United.

Ruben Dias

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: January 15 vs. Manchester United

Ruben Dias is yet to play for Man City since sustaining a hamstring injury while on international duty with Portugal at the 2022 World Cup, but the defender now appears to be closing in on a return after Guardiola stated at his press conference that "everyone else is fit" apart from Stones.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no suspended players for this match.
