Scoring a single Premier League goal is a feat that most men on planet earth will never achieve in their lives. Scoring the most goals in a Premier League season - and winning the Golden Boot - is an honour reserved for the extraordinary few.
And the current holder of the award undoubtedly fits into that category, the irrepressible Erling Haaland, who is bidding for back-to-back individual accolades after also shining for Norway during their historic World Cup run.
Should the Manchester City marksman lead the charts again, he will join Thierry Henry and Mohamed Salah on a record four Golden Boots, but can any of the division's other leading number nines pose a serious threat to his top-scorer status?
Here, the Sports Mole team selects who they think will win the 2026-27 Premier League Golden Boot.
Barney Corkhill, Editor - Erling Haaland
It's the obvious choice, and one I make with less conviction than previous years due to doubts over how Man City will actually perform this season, but there aren't really any other standout options.
Alexander Isak is perhaps the one who could compete if he can stay fit and Andoni Iraola can get him firing, but those are two big 'ifs', whereas Haaland scoring goals is about as close to a certainty as you can get in football.
I think Man City will suffer from some of their summer departures, including Pep Guardiola, but their attacking lineup remains really strong, and Haaland is just an elite goalscorer who only needs a handful of touches to make a big difference. Even if Man City aren't their dominant selves, Haaland showed at the World Cup that he can score in a team that plays a bit differently too.
With Mo Salah's exit, Haaland is now the highest active scorer in the league. How can I really back against someone who has 112 goals in 132 Premier League appearances and three Golden Boots in four years?
Matt Law, Football Editor - Erling Haaland
Can anyone score more Premier League goals than Haaland this season? I'm actually expecting it to be a difficult season for Man City, but the Norway international should again be at the top of the scoring charts. For me, there isn't any serious competition for him, although Joao Pedro at Chelsea is a decent outside shout in this category.

The heart says Viktor Gyokeres, the head says another blonde Scandinavian.
City might lose their midfield control with Rodri and Bernardo Silva walking out of the exit door, but with Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku and - whisper it quietly - Jack Grealish all pulling the creative strings, Haaland will not be starved of service whatsoever.
Igor Thiago, Joao Pedro and a fully-fit Alexander Isak could engage in a multi-horse scrap for second place, but the customary individual accolade should remain safely in Haaland's possession.

Man City goal machine Erling Haaland is the clear favourite to win the 2026-27 Premier League Golden Boot as he chases a historic, record-equalling fourth award alongside legends Thierry Henry and Mohamed Salah.
Fresh off an impressive 2026 World Cup campaign where he fired Norway into the quarter-finals, the talismanic striker has already demonstrated total dominance in England with a mind-boggling 112 goals in just 132 Premier League matches for the Citizens.
Having netted at least 22 league goals in each of his previous four seasons at the Etihad Stadium, breaching the 20-goal barrier once again will almost certainly put him firmly in the frame to finish at the very top of the charts.
With rival forwards still adapting to new teams or transitioning under unfamiliar managers, few strikers possess the elite, settled service needed to truly challenge Haaland’s lethal efficiency.

The answer to this is simple - Erling Haaland. The Norwegian demonstrated at the World Cup exactly why he's one of the best strikers in the world. Haaland's closest rival, Mo Salah, has departed, and as things stand, there is no other forward who can match the numbers he has posted over the last few seasons.
Marvellous Adepoju, Reporter - Erling Haaland
The Norwegian wasted no time taking the World Cup by storm in his debut appearance, further underlining the goalscoring knack that has defined his career.
While Many City are undergoing a transitional period and could struggle a bit following Pep Guardiola's exit, Haaland is well fancied to retain his top-scorer crown.
Seye Omidiora, Reporter - Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland. Always a safe bet, even if he is entering the season without a pre-season and having made his World Cup debut.
Joshua Cole, Reporter - Erling Haaland
The Norwegian is one of the greatest goalscorers in history. Even at his worse he is sure to cross 20 goals a season, making him clear favorite yet again
Joel Lefevre, Reporter - Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland will undoubtedly be the popular choice to take home this honour, and I don’t see anyone stepping in or overtaking him. He’ll have Antoine Semenyo and Igor Thiago to compete with, but Haaland always seems to find another gear and score regularly.
It doesn’t seem to matter what kind of service he gets or where he is on the pitch; his precision and nose for goal are still out of this world, and he keeps elevating his game, which is why I believe he’ll win the Golden Boot once again.
Pedro Ramos, Trivela Coordinator - Erling Haaland
It is hard to imagine any player surpassing Erling Haaland as the season's top scorer. There are several great centre-forwards, but none today are on his level.
