Yaya Toure has admitted that Manchester City are desperate to show that they can compete in the Champions League this season.
The Ivorian scored in Tuesday's 3-0 victory over Viktoria Plzen and he believes that City can qualify for the knockout stages after exiting the competition early in the past two seasons.
"We had the desire to win the game today," Toure told Sky Sports News. "The first half was difficult but the second half was okay.
"I hope we can see the real City in the Champions League because the last two years were disappointing. I hope that this year is our year and, first of all, our target is to reach the second round."
City will now turn their attention to the Premier League, with Manchester United being their next opponents on Sunday.
