PSG vs. Man City: Four players left out as Pep Guardiola's 21-man Champions League squad is confirmed, Khusanov, Reis train

Four players left out: Man City confirm Champions League squad for PSG clash

Manchester City will be without four senior players for Wednesday's Champions League showdown with Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes.

Both the Citizens and Les Parisiens have enjoyed positive runs of form on the domestic front in recent weeks, with Pep Guardiola's side going six games unbeaten and Luis Enrique's men enjoying a seven-match winning streak.

Man City cruised to an emphatic 6-0 victory at Ipswich Town in the Premier League last Sunday, a day before PSG left it late to beat Lens 2-1 in Ligue 1 to move nine points clear at the summit.

However, both European giants have endured a difficult Champions League campaign in the newly-formed competition thus far, and they are at risk of failing to qualify for the last 16.

While PSG are languishing in the elimination zone (25th) after accumulating just seven points from their first six games (W2 D1 L3), Man City (W2 D2 L2) sit just one point and three places above the French champions and are clinging on to a last-16 playoff spot.

Victory for either side on Wednesday could be pivotal in their quest to secure a top-24 finish, and ahead of this intriguing contest in Paris, Man City have confirmed their 21-man travelling squad to the French capital.

Doku, Ake, Bobb, Walker all absent from Man City squad

Only 12 senior players were pictured during Man City 15-minute open training session to the media earlier on Tuesday, before Guardiola's 21-man squad landed in Paris shortly after 5.00pm UK time.

One notable absentee from Man City's squad in winger Jeremy Doku, who picked up an injury after scoring in the Citizens' win at Ipswich, according to Manchester Evening News writer Simon Bajkowski.

Nathan Ake is also absent as he continues to recover from an unspecified injury, while Oscar Bobb has returned to training after five months out with a leg fracture, but he will not be involved against PSG.

Another Man City player absent is defender Kyle Walker, who has asked to leave the club and has reportedly flown to Italy to finalise his transfer to AC Milan.

Asked if there was an update on Walker's situation during a pre-match press conference on Tuesday evening, Guardiola simply replied: "No."

Stones returns, Rodri travels... but Spaniard will not play

On a positive note, John Stones has been selected in Man City's travelling squad to France after missing the last six matches with a foot injury.

"Today, John Stones came back to the team - that is incredibly good news to us! We can add to the position that we struggled a lot all season," said Guardiola.

A surprise traveller with Man City's squad is Ballon d'Or winner Rodri, but he is merely supporting his teammates from the sidelines as he continues to recover from a long-term ACL injury.

Meanwhile, Man City's new signings Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis both trained with their new Citizens teammates for the first time on Tuesday, but the defensive duo are ineligible to play in the Champions League at this stage in the competition.

Khusanov joined City from Lens for a reported €40m (£33.5m) on Monday, and it was confirmed less than 24 hours later that the Premier League champions have signed Reis from Palmeiras for around €35m (£29.6m).

Man City's 21-man travelling squad in full:

Ederson, Stefan Ortega, Scott Carson, Rico Lewis, Matheus Nunes, Max Alleyne, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Josko Gvardiol, Jacob Wright, Nico O'Reilly, Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic, Kevin De Bruyne, James McAtee, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Savinho, Erling Haaland
