Samuel Utiti flattered by Real Madrid rumours

Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti has admitted that he is flattered by recent reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid.

The 21-year-old has played a key role in launching his side's Ligue 1 title challenge by starting 20 of 22 matches for the leaders this season.

His form has apparently caught the eye of Madrid, but Umtiti has dismissed suggestions that he could be on his way to the Spanish capital in the near future.

"It is flattering that one of the best clubs in the world are paying close attention to my performances," the France Under-21 international told Le Progres.

"This makes me happy, but it also gives me motivation to work harder so that I play better in matches. But to be honest that is as far it goes."

Lyon return to action against improving Monaco on Sunday evening.
