Liverpool chasing Austrian youngster Maximilian Hofmann

Liverpool are pursuing a deal for Rapid Vienna youngster Maximilian Hofmann, according to Italian website Calciomercato.

The 22-year-old centre-back has been a long-term target for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who also made enquiries when in charge of Borussia Dortmund.

Hofmann was a key part of the squad that topped Group E of this season's Europa League ahead of Spanish outfit Villarreal.

If he signs next month, Hofmann is likely to be used as cover for the injured Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho.
