Liverpool are believed to be pushing for a third bid to land Brighton & Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh after two offers, the most recent worth £60m, were turned down.

Brighton are understood to be holding out for a fee closer to £70m, leaving Iraola with a genuine dilemma over how far to push a deal for a player who scored only three league goals last season.

Liverpool's interest in Minteh comes as they continue to be linked with Paris Saint-Germain duo Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, with PSG leaving both wingers out of recent matchday squads amid the speculation.

Signing all three forwards in one window is highly unlikely, and reports suggest Minteh could instead be viewed as an alternative to Mbaye rather than an addition alongside him.

On the pitch, Iraola has defended his midfield pairing of Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai following the four-goal Magpies draw, in which Szoboszlai's injury-time penalty rescued a point after the pair were exposed for both home goals.

The Liverpool boss insisted that defensive solidity is "not just personnel" and can be corrected through better team shape rather than a fresh signing in that area.
