Bernardo Silva believes Manchester City remain in a stronger position than Liverpool to win the Premier League title despite their goalless draw away at Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Despite recording 18 shots on goal and boasting 74% possession, the Citizens failed to break down a resilient Eagles backline at Selhurst Park, and they have now dropped points in two of their last four league fixtures.

Pep Guardiola's men missed the chance to move six points clear at the top of the table and are instead sitting four points above Liverpool having played a game more.

Silva admitted that City were frustrated throughout the 90 minutes but he believes the current top-flight holders remain in the driving seat to retain their title.

"We were very good. Unfortunately, we couldn't score. We had our chances, we should have scored but we didn't. Very frustrating game, but yet still a long way to go, nine games to go," the Portugal international told Sky Sports News in his post-match interview.

"We're still in a good position. It's still better to be in our position than Liverpool. They still have to play in our stadium as well. It's gonna be exciting.

"It's always better to win than to draw the game. We wanted to win. We wanted to have an advantage of six points to Liverpool, with them [still to play] one game in hand.

"[The gap is] four points, they play Arsenal, we go and rest before playing Southampton for the FA Cup. Like I said, nine games to go, very difficult fixtures ahead of us. We're going to be there. We're going to fight as usual for the title."

Liverpool will now play twice in the Premier League before City next kick a ball, with a challenging contest away at Arsenal on Wednesday night followed by a home encounter with Watford on April 2.

Man City's next top-flight fixture is on April 2, when they make the trip to Burnley, before welcoming Jurgen Klopp's Reds to the Etihad Stadium for a title showdown on April 10.
