Blackburn Rovers will hope to climb out of the relegation zone with a victory over Liverpool tonight, while the Reds are desperate to end a disappointing run in the league.

Blackburn Rovers can launch themselves out of the relegation zone with a victory over out-of-form Liverpool, who have recorded six defeats in their last eight Premier League matches.

Steve Kean is likely to start Yakubu as a lone striker at Ewood Park, with Morten Gamst Pedersen and Marcus Olsson providing service from the wings.

Rovers will be without Anthony Modeste following the striker's red card during the side's 3-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Kenny Dalglish may rest skipper Steven Gerrard with one eye on Liverpool's FA Cup semi-final against Everton on Saturday, but could welcome back Daniel Agger to the fray following the defender's return from a rib injury in the second half of the Reds' 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.

Alexander Doni is expected to keep his spot in goal as regular keeper Pepe Reina serves his second-match suspension following the Spaniard's sending-off during the Reds' 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United over a week ago.
