Raheem Sterling hails "tremendous captain's performance" from Steven Gerrard

Raheem Sterling hails "tremendous" captain Steven Gerrard for his emotional huddle at the end of Liverpool's victory over Manchester City.

Liverpool star Raheem Sterling has been full of praise for captain Steven Gerrard following his rallying call at the end of their victory over Manchester City on Sunday.

The Premier League title race is in the Merseyside outfit's hands after they secured a 3-2 win at Anfield and kept a two-point lead at the top of the table.

Despite the victory, Sterling, who opened the scoring in the first half, has claimed that Gerrard kept matters in perspective for the team by gathering the players in a huddle to urge them to focus on playing Norwich City this weekend.

"He just said that it was a great win for us and a great team effort," Sterling told the club's official website. "He said that we don't just stop here - we go again against Norwich next week.

"It was another tremendous captain's performance from him, to regroup the boys and tell us it's not over just because of today's game, and to go again next week - credit to him."

If Liverpool win their final four games, they will lift the league title for the first time since 1990.
