Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers: 'Crystal Palace defeat was turning point'

Brendan Rodgers believes that Liverpool's 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in November was the "defining moment" in their season.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that the club's season changed for the better following a Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace back in November.

The Reds were 12th in the table, 18 points adrift of leaders Chelsea following a 3-1 loss to the Eagles at Selhurst Park.

Since then, the Merseyside outfit have suffered defeat just once in 15 top-flight fixtures, and boosted their top-four chances with a 2-1 triumph over Manchester City on Sunday.

"The Crystal Palace defeat was a defining moment in our season," Rodgers told talkSPORT. "Palace were excellent on the day.

"I needed to come away from that and really look at the team. We were certainly nowhere near the level we'd been in the last 18 months. That was a turning point."

Liverpool are two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
