Brendan Rodgers: 'No bust-up with Ray Wilkins'

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists that he was not involved in a heated exchange with Ray Wilkins on Wednesday.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he was not involved in a heated exchange with Ray Wilkins at Craven Cottage on Wednesday evening.

The Fulham assistant head coach reportedly left the dugout just 10 minutes into the 3-2 defeat to spend the remainder of the match in the stands, because he was said to be furious with Rodgers.

However, the Reds boss has stated that he and Wilkins have settled their differences.

"There was no bust-up at all," Sky Sports News quotes Rodgers as saying. "Ray is one of the nicest guys I have met in football. It was just a disagreement on the side over something that took place in the game, but that was all it was.

"They have a good staff at Fulham. Rene [Meulensteen] has taken over a very difficult job and he and his team did very well the other night.

"They are fighting for their lives so it can get a wee bit heated but anyone who knows me knows that is not how I work. I normally concentrate on the football but obviously I protect my team and people."

Liverpool sit fourth in the table following the win, while Fulham remain bottom.
