Liverpool's director of communications Jen Chang has left the club "by mutual consent".
A club spokesman confirmed his departure on Friday, adding that Chang has returned to the USA for family reasons.
"I can confirm Jen Chang has left Liverpool football club by mutual consent and has returned to the United States for family reasons," he told Sporting Intelligence.
Chang, who appointed by the Fenway Sports Group in the summer, was recently involved in a controversy following a meeting in a Manchester restaurant with the man behind parody Twitter account Duncan Jenkins.
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre was forced to apologise to the creator of the fake character, Sean Cummins, for Chang's conduct.
Chang had accused Cummins of obtaining sensitive information about Liverpool through a mole at Anfield.
