Charlie Adam: 'Steven Gerrard will return to Liverpool on loan'

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam believes that Sunday will not be Steven Gerrard's final appearance in a Liverpool shirt.

Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam has said that he believes Steven Gerrard will return to Liverpool on loan next season.

Gerrard will play his final match of his 17-year career with the Merseysiders when Brendan Rodgers's side take on Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday.

However, Adam does not think that it will be the 34-year-old's final appearance in the Premier League as he feels that Gerrard will rejoin the Reds on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy in the MLS off-season.

He told reporters: "I think he will come back to England on loan.

"The type of person he is, he will want to play games over the Christmas period. Give anyone an opportunity to sign Steven Gerrard in the Christmas window and they would snap your hand off.

"He has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League for a number of years."

Gerrard's final game will be his 710th appearance for Liverpool in all competitions.
