Suarez pipped to Olympic flag-bearing duties

Luiz Suarez has not been selected to carry the Uruguayan flag during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London later this month.

The Liverpool striker had been widely tipped to be given the flag-bearing duties for his nation.

However, the Uruguayan Olympic committee have opted to hand the role to rower Rodolfo Collazo.

It has since been reported that Suarez was overlooked as a result of his race row with Manchester United defender Patrice Evra last October.
