Liverpool 1-0 Everton - as it happened

Curtis Jones scored his first Liverpool goal as Jurgen Klopp's side booked their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 1-0 win over Everton at Anfield.

The 18-year-old picked out the top corner from distance in the 71st minute as a much-changed Reds side managed to secure their sixth straight victory in all competitions.

Read how it all unfolded in Sports Mole's minute-by-minute live coverage of the action below.

5.52pmThat is just about it from me, but I shall leave you with the match report from what was another entertaining Merseyside derby. Thanks for joining us once again, until next time!

5.51pmSo there we have it. The referee brings the match to a close with Liverpool booking their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a second-half stunner from Jones. There is no getting away from the fact that it is a huge opportunity missed for Everton, though.

FULL TIME:

90+4 minLIVERPOOL 1-0 EVERTON

90+3 minTime is almost up here and Liverpool have the ball in Everton's half.

90+2 minHalf-chance for Kean, but the striker was falling backwards when he met a cross and his effort was always rising over the crossbar. Liverpool are almost there.

90+1 min... the fourth official's board shows that three minutes have been added.

90 minI should not imagine that there will be too much in the way of added time as the second half has passed without major incident aside from the goal. We will soon find out...

89 minPickford delivers a free kick deep into the Liverpool box, but the home side manage to clear their lines before winning a throw when Digne deflects the ball out of play.

87 minAncelotti watches on from the touchline, and the Italian is cutting a frustrated figure here as Liverpool continue to keep the ball. It just has to be better from the visitors.

85 minAbsolutely nothing happening for Everton at the moment as Liverpool continue to pass and probe in the final third of the field. Little over five minutes of normal time left here.

83 minThe Liverpool fans are in fine voice at the moment as the clock ticks on.

81 minEverton are just not hurting the home side at the moment, with Liverpool looking like the team capable of scoring the game's second goal. The Toffees have to respond here.

79 minLIVERPOOL SUB! Brewster replaces Elliott in Liverpool's final change.

79 minEVERTON SUB! Bernard replaces Walcott for the away side.

SHOT!

78 minSchneiderlin fires over the Liverpool crossbar from a good position.

76 minNot too much in the way of a response from Everton in the last few minutes, which will disappoint their fans. It will be a huge opportunity missed if the Toffees cannot find a route back into this contest in the final 15 minutes or so.

SAVE!

74 minPickford gets down to keep out a low strike from Oxlade-Chamberlain.

72 minSome strike from Jones, who only had one thought in his mind when he picked up the ball. Now Everton have to respond or they are heading out of the FA Cup here.

GOAL!

71 minLiverpool make the breakthrough in the 71st minute and it is a wonderful goal from Jones, who picks out the top corner with a stunning effort from distance!

GOAL!

71 minLIVERPOOL 1-0 EVERTON (JONES)

71 minLIVERPOOL SUB! Oxlade-Chamberlain replaces Minamino.

SAVE!

70 minDecent save from Pickford to keep out a long-range effort from Origi.

69 minOxlade-Chamberlain is on the Liverpool bench this afternoon, and it would not be a surprise to see the England international at some point before full-time. Everton are struggling to get things going at the moment as the clock continues to tick on.

67 minNot too much happening in terms of chances at the moment; just a reminder that this will go to a replay if neither side scores in the next 20 minutes or so.

65 minKean is still waiting for his first Everton goal, and it would be some story if the teenager scored the winner in this match. Little over 25 minutes of football remaining at Anfield.

63 minEVERTON SUBS! Kean and Delph replace Sigurdsson and Coleman.

62 minEverton want to make their first change of the match with Delph set to enter, but the ball has actually not gone out of play for some time now. Still Delph waits on the touchline.

60 minEverton are struggling to make their mark at the moment with Walcott again losing the ball in the final third. Ancelotti's side have been disappointing since the break here.

SAVE!

58 minDigne (Everton) is booked for a tug on Elliott.

58 minLittle over 30 minutes of the second period remaining, and we are still waiting for the first goal. There will be a replay if these two teams cannot be separated at Anfield.

56 minMina and Pickford get in a bit of a mess inside their own box, but the away side manage to clear their lines before breaking down the other end. Richarlison threatens to strike one towards goal inside the box, only for Chirivella to come across and challenge.

54 minEverton are struggling to get out of their own half at the moment as Calvert-Lewin has to head behind for a corner with Phillips threatening to meet a deep Lallana free kick.

SAVE!

52 minSmart save from Pickford to keep out a low strike from Williams as Liverpool continue to force the issue in the final third. The home team are on the front foot at the moment.

50 minNot too much to report in the last few minutes, but Liverpool are the team on the front foot as they make ground down the Everton right through Elliott and Williams.

SHOT!

48 minSchneiderin curls over the Liverpool crossbar from just outside the box.

47 min... neither manager has made a change at the interval, which is not too much of a surprise. However, you suspect that both Klopp and Ancelotti will have alterations in mind.

KICKOFF:

46 minEverton resume the action at Anfield...

4.58pmBENCH WATCH! Everton have a lot of attacking talent on their bench this afternoon with the likes of Bernard, Davies, Delph and Kean all capable of making a difference in the second period. Liverpool, meanwhile, have options in the shape of Brewster, Mane and Oxlade-Chamberlain, although the hosts have already made one change with Larouci replacing Milner.

4.53pmSTATISTICS! Liverpool had 56% of the ball in the first period, while they managed six attempts but just one of those was on target. Everton had eight attempts in the opening 45 minutes, with three of those testing Adrian. There has not actually been a single yellow card in the opening half, though, and it has not really been that type of contest here.

4.48pmSo there we have it. The referee brings the first period to a close with the two teams level at 0-0. Liverpool have had control of the ball for long spells, but Everton have had some outstanding chances to make the breakthrough. Adrian in the home side's goal has perhaps been the star player in the derby having made three excellent saves.

HALF TIME:

45+3 minLIVERPOOL 0-0 EVERTON

45+2 minWalcott finds Richarlison inside the Liverpool box, but the Brazilian is closed out at the final moment. The attacker then fires over from a narrow angle moments later.

45+1 minWe are into the first of two additional minutes at the end of the first period.

44 minLiverpool threaten late in the half with a corner from Chirivella, but Holgate is on hand to make the clearance. It has been an open and entertaining first period here.

SAVE!

42 minPickford makes a wonderful save to keep out a low strike from Origi! It is excellent goalkeeping from the England international to tip the ball wide of the post.

41 minLittle under five minutes of the first period remaining, and we are still waiting for the first goal at Anfield. Liverpool's young players can be pleased with how they have performed.

SHOT!

39 minCalvert-Lewin sends a low strike wide of the post from distance.

39 minLallana almost heads a Walcott cross into the back of his own net but just places the ball wide of the post. Lallana is now wearing the armband after Milner's early withdrawal.

37 minYou do get the feeling that the first goal - if there indeed is one - will be crucial here. Everton have had some excellent chances, but Liverpool are on the front foot at the moment.

CHANCE!

35 minBig chance for the home side to take the lead as Minamino meets a cross from Origi, but the January signing sees his effort just move wide of the far post!

35 minLittle over 10 minutes of the first half remaining, and we are goalless at Anfield. The home side have just broken into the Everton box through Minamino, but Holgate came across to make the challenge before Jones struck wide of the post moments later.

33 minWalcott delivers a dangerous cross towards Calvert-Lewin, but the striker cannot make proper contact. Liverpool's defence was again all over the place it must be said.

32 minAll things considered, it has been an entertaining first 32 minutes of football. Liverpool's youngsters can be pleased with how they have performed, although Everton really should have scored at least once having had three big chances to make the breakthrough.

SHOT!

30 minLallana sends another effort harmlessly over the Everton crossbar here.

SAVE!

29 minAnother super save from Adrian to keep out a close-range effort from Richarlison. Adrian has now made three excellent saves in the first half of this game!

29 minLittle over 15 minutes of the first period remaining, and it has been a fairly even match. Everton have had the best two chances, although Liverpool will feel that they have had better control of the possession, especially in the last 10 minutes or so.

27 minElliott delivers another corner into the Everton box during a strong period for the home side, but Williams sees his strike from outside the box deflected wide of the post.

25 minLiverpool are the team on the front foot at the moment, but the home side are still waiting for their first serious chance of the match. Lallana has just broken into a dangerous area, only for Holgate to come across and make a smart challenge.

25 minLiverpool are the team on the front foot at the moment, but the home side are still waiting for their first serious chance of the match. Lallana has just broken into a dangerous area, only for Holgate to come across and make a smart challenge.

23 minLarouci again does well to race down the left and challenge Coleman, but the Everton defender just about does enough under pressure. Still goalless with 23 minutes played here.

SHOT!

21 minLallana fires well over the Everton goal from distance.

21 minLarouci has just shown good ability to turn away from Walcott and play a pass down the line which will do his confidence no harm at all. Everton attempt to fashion something moments later through Richarlison, but Phillips is across to make a strong challenge.

19 minNot an awful lot happening at the moment to be honest; both teams are having bits and pieces of the ball but neither is threatening to make the breakthrough. If you have just joined us then Everton have already had two big chances through Calvert-Lewin and Holgate.

17 minLiverpool's new signing has shown some nice touches in the early stages...

15 minLallana delivers a smart free kick towards Origi, but Pickford is on hand to make the claim before releasing Walcott down the other end. Better from Liverpool in the last couple.

13 minNot an awful lot happening for Liverpool going forward at the moment; the home side have just had a corner, but Everton managed to clear their lines through Walcott.

SAVE!

11 minAnother smart save from Adrian to keep out a header from Holgate, who had met a deep free kick from Sigurdsson. Everton have had two big moments in the early stages here.

9 minLIVERPOOL SUB! Milner is replaced by Larouci for the home side.

8 minMilner has shaken his head and will have to be replaced here.

8 minLiverpool have an injury problem here with Milner going down.

SAVE!

7 minHuge save from Adrian as the Liverpool goalkeeper keeps out a powerful strike from Calvert-Lewin, who had reacted first after smart work from Walcott through the middle.

6 minElliott threatens down the right for the home side as he skips past Digne, but the teenager cannot find a teammate with his cross. Still goalless with six on the clock here.

4 minEverton's formation appears to be changing a fair bit in these early moments; it looked to be a 4-4-2 at kickoff, but Walcott is almost playing off Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin here. The visitors have made a positive start to this FA Cup tie as they threaten early on.

2 min... there is no question that Ancelotti has selected a stronger side than Klopp, and Everton might not get a better chance for some time to overcome their rivals. A number of Liverpool youngsters found it difficult against Aston Villa in the EFL Cup last month.

KICKOFF:

0 minLiverpool kick things off at Anfield...

4.00pmThe Reds won the last of their seven FA Cups in 2006, while the Toffees, who have lifted the trophy on five occasions, last triumphed in 1995. Kickoff in the derby is next here!

3.59pmAs for Everton, head coach Carlo Ancelotti has made just the two changes to the side that started against Manchester City on New Year's Day with Morgan Schneiderlin and Theo Walcott coming in for Fabian Delph and Tom Davies. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have impressed in the final third since Ancelotti's arrival and keep their spots in attack.

3.58pmAs expected, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has rung the changes for this match with only two players – Joe Gomez and James Milner – keeping their spots from the Sheffield United clash on January 2. The big news is that there is a debut for recent arrival Takumi Minamino, while Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, Nathanial Phillips and Pedro Chirivella are among those to earn starts.

3.57pmTEAMS! LIVERPOOL: Adrian; Milner, Phillips, Gomez, Williams; Lallana, Chirivella; Jones, Minamino, Elliott; Origi EVERTON: Pickford; Coleman, Holgate, Mina, Digne; Sidibe, Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin, Walcott; Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin

3.56pmGood afternoon and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of the FA Cup third-round clash between Liverpool and Everton from Anfield. Everton have incredibly not overcome their Merseyside rivals since 2010, while the Toffees have not been victorious at Anfield in any competition since September 1999. Can Carlo Ancelotti's side pick up a huge victory this afternoon? Stay tuned for live minute-by-minute updates of the action from Merseyside!
