Klopp: 'Anfield welcome was great moment'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has offered a lukewarm assessment of his side's performance in the Europa League 1-1 draw against Rubin Kazan, but praised the home fans for the welcome that they have offered him.

In the German's first Reds game at Anfield, Marko Devic gave the visitors a surprise lead, but the Russians were reduced to 10 men when Oleg Kuzmin was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Liverpool took advantage and equalised a minute later as Emre Can slotted in at the back post following a free kick, but were unable to force a winner in the second half.

Klopp told the official Reds site: "Sometimes it's a big advantage against ten men. Sometimes it's a thankless job. Tonight is not an absolute masterclass but it's not the worst day in my life.

"It was a warm welcome [from the fans]. It was one of the best moments for me tonight. I'm here as a manager of a football club, one of the best in the world, now we have to develop our game so supporters can enjoy."

The result puts Liverpool second in Group B, four points behind Swiss side Sion.
