Sunderland show interest in Andy King?

Leicester City midfielder Andy King has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Sunderland.

On Monday, Foxes boss Claude Puel suggested that he may be prepared to allow King to go out on loan after falling down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium.

The Welsh international will have no shortage of offers before the end of the January transfer window, but according to the Daily Mail, the 29-year-old is being targeted by a familiar face.

Sunderland boss Chris Coleman worked with King during his time with Wales, and the Leicester legend would be regarded as a high-priority signing with the North-East outfit struggling to remain in the Championship.

Leicester are likely to receive a number of approaches for King before Wednesday night, but Puel will not be keen on strengthening a direct rival in the Premier League.

King has made just five starts and six substitute appearances in the top flight during the current campaign.
