Mahrez 'wants guarantee he can leave'

Riyad Mahrez has reportedly asked Leicester City to guarantee that he will be allowed to leave the King Power Stadium during the summer.

During the final 48 hours of the January transfer window, Mahrez put in a transfer request in order to try to force through a move to Manchester City, but the Premier League leaders refused to meet the Foxes' valuation of the player.

Mahrez has since gone on strike by refusing to attend training with the East Midlands outfit, but it appears that he is willing to return on one condition.

According to The Times, the Algerian international has asked Leicester to ensure that he can leave the club before the start of next campaign.

The report suggests that a release clause may be inserted into his contract in order to improve the player's happiness for the remainder of the season.

Manager Claude Puel has admitted that Mahrez will not be considered for his side's trip to Man City at the weekend.
