Ranieri: 'Vardy responds to attention'

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has claimed that Jamie Vardy has performed better due to the spotlight being on him.

The striker will set a new Premier League record of scoring in 11 consecutive games if he finds the back of the net against Manchester United on Saturday.

Vardy has come under increasing attention during his goalscoring run, and Ranieri has said that the pressure has been helpful for the England international.

"I think it's good Jamie has this – maybe all his teammates will try to help him," the Italian told The Guardian. "But the main idea is the team. After there is Jamie, there is me and everybody – the team.

"I hope for him and [the] fans he gets the record – but sooner or later someone will break the record. I hope for Jamie he does it."

Vardy's form has helped Leicester to the top of the table ahead of this weekend's match.
