Legia Warsaw sack Henning Berg

Legia Warsaw have parted company with manager Henning Berg.

The former Manchester United and Norway defender guided Leiga to the Ekstraklasa title in 2014 and the Polish Cup last term.

However, with the team in fourth position and 10 points adrift of leaders Piast Gliwice this season, the board have decided that the time is right for the two parties to go their separate ways.

"The current formula of co-operation with the coach has expired as it didn't guarantee accomplishment of all our goals in terms of sporting results during this season and the team's development," chairman Boguslaw Lesnodorski told the club's official website.

Early reports have suggested that ex-Russia international Stanislav Cherchesov is the favourite to replace Berg.
