A comprehensive roundup of the results of the League Cup first round.

The first round of the League Cup saw Carlisle head into the next round with a 1-0 victory over Accrington Stanley.

They were joined by Crewe Alexandra, who dominated Hartlepool from start to finish as they won the game 5-0.

Walsall also booked their place in the second round, beating Brentford, who had Jake Reeves sent off after just 25 minutes, by a goal to nil.

MK Dons also went down to ten men in their game against Cheltenham Town, though despite losing Stephen Gleeson after 40 minutes, they held on for a 1-1 draw to take the game into extra time. The game was eventually decided on penalties, with MK Dons winning 5-3.

Notts County and Bradford City played out a 0-0 draw, but a James Hanson goal in extra time delivered a 1-0 victory for Bradford.

Watford and Wycombe Wanderers could not be seperated in normal time with the game ending goalless, however a 109th minute goal from Chris Iwulemo gave Watford a place in the next round.

A 74th minute penalty handed Doncaster Rovers a 1-1 draw against York City, sending the game into extra time and then penalties, which Doncaster won 4-2.

League Two side Burton Albion did well to hold Sheffield United to a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, and took the lead in extra time through Cleveland Taylor after 97 minutes. However, Marcus Holness was sent off soon after for two bookable offences on 105 minutes, before Neill Collins equalised for United.

The game was also decided on penalties, with Burton winning 5-4 to head into the second round draw.
