Vincenzo Montella: 'Lazio deserved more'

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella says that Lazio were the better team in last night's match at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella has admitted that his team were lucky to escape from the Italian capital with a point from their match with Lazio.

The result means that Viola are now seven points off a Champions League spot after seven games.

"It is an important result and we take the point, even if Lazio did more and deserved something more," the 39-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

"We tried to take the initiative, but we weren't sharp enough tonight. The result is positive, because last season we wouldn't even have managed that with this performance.

"The break comes at the right time, as we can get some players back from injury and rest others who haven't had the chance. It's no coincidence we lacked sharpness this evening."

The Florence-based club entertain Juventus at the Stadio Artemio Franchi after the international break.
