All things considered, Pirlo may be against using two veterans in a team which he wishes to develop over a number of years, but Suarez would naturally slot in down the middle of the attack should he arrive in Turin.
Given the personnel in the dressing room, Pirlo has the option of using a diamond formation in midfield, with three defensive-minded players combining with Aaron Ramsey in a more creative role behind Ronaldo and Suarez.
However, Pirlo will likely want to ensure that Paulo Dybala features in his front three, potentially deploying the Argentine down the right flank in place of Federico Bernardeschi and Douglas Costa.
Should Pirlo take that approach, Ramsey would almost certainly find himself dropping down to the substitutes' bench with preference given to cover in defensive areas.
Adrien Rabiot could be used on the left-hand side of a central three, potentially taking over from Ronaldo's defensive work, with Rodrigo Bentancur and new arrival Arthur taking the other two spots.
Although there are options in the full-back areas, Pirlo may favour Brazilian pair Danilo and Alex Sandro over the more attack-minded Juan Cuadrado.
When he recovers from a shoulder injury, Matthijs de Ligt will be regarded as the preferred choice alongside Leonardo Bonucci in the middle of the backline.
