Half-Time Report: Alvaro Morata gives dominant Juventus lead over Sevilla

Morata gives dominant Juventus lead

An Alvaro Morata goal has given Juventus a deserved lead over Sevilla at half time in their Champions League clash this evening.

Juventus started the game brightly and could have opened the scoring in the second minute of the game, as Morata found Paul Pogba but the French international's shot went just over the crossbar.

The hosts dominated the game's early exchanges, as Morata headed over the bar from a Pogba cross, before Brazil international Hernanes curled a shot past the near post.

Paulo Dybala came close to opening the scoring after Sami Khedira threaded a pass towards the Argentine striker, but he narrowly missed the top corner of the net, before a long-range Hernanes strike tested Sevilla keeper Sergio Rico.

Morata found Juan Cuadrado in a good position before half time, but the Colombian's effort sliced wide.

The hosts were finally rewarded for their dominance on 41 minutes as Andrea Barzagli found Morata with an inviting cross, before the former Real Madrid striker headed past Rico.

Sevilla came close to an equaliser before the break, as Yehven Konoplyanka hit a shot straight at Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon.
