Keisuke Honda: 'Japan can cause shock'

Japan forward Keisuke Honda insists that he and his teammates are "ready to shock the world" at the World Cup.

Keisuke Honda has claimed that he and his Japan teammates are "ready to shock the world" at this summer's World Cup in Brazil.

The Japanese squad is currently in Florida preparing for the upcoming tournament in Brazil.

Having been pitted against the Ivory Coast, Colombia and Greece in Group C, Honda is confident that Japan can make a serious impact when the action gets underway later this month.

"I think we are all ready to shock the world," the 27-year-old, who plays his club football for AC Milan, told Kyodo. "We just have to believe in our style and play like we normally do. Right now, we are focused on going as far as possible.

"The World Cup only comes around once every four years and there is no guarantee that I'm going to be around in four years' time. So I want to play this tournament as if it will be my last."

Japan get their World Cup campaign underway on June 15 when they face the Ivory Coast in Recife.
