Ivory Coast handed 2-0 victory over Senegal

Ivory Coast handed Senegal victory

The Confederation of African Football have awarded the Ivory Coast a 2-0 victory from their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier encounter against Senegal.

The two nations met in Dakar on Sunday evening, only for the match to be abandoned because of crowd trouble.

Senegal supporters took exception to their side falling 2-0 behind courtesy of a penalty from Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba by starting fires in the stands and throwing missiles onto the pitch.

CAF's decision to give the Ivorians the three points means that Senegal now have no chance of reaching their continental tournament, which takes place in South Africa next year.
