Tommy Smith heads in from a corner to give Ipswich Town a 1-0 lead over Middlesbrough at half time.

Ipswich Town are leading Middlesbrough at half time courtesy of a Tommy Smith header.

After a nervy opening 10 minutes the first chance of the game fell to the hosts, but Luke Chambers's header from a corner went wide of the post.

Carlos Edwards went for goal from distance in the 20th minute but he too was unable to test Jason Steele in the Boro goal.

However, Ipswich's dominance paid off with Tommy Smith heading home from a corner to give struggling Town the lead.
