Inter Milan have reportedly targeted Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi, after the club parted ways with Antonio Conte this week.
Conte left Inter after guiding them to their first Serie A title in 11 years, and is believed to be receiving a payout of £6m for the year remaining on his contract with the club.
Inzaghi has led Lazio through a good season after his side finished sixth in the league and six points above city rivals Roma, resulting in the 45-year-old becoming the leading candidate for the vacant Inter role.
According to Sky Sports News, Inter are in financial trouble due to the global pandemic and have planned to sell around £80m worth of players this summer, suggesting that Inzaghi will not be able to spend big in the transfer window should he accept the job.
Inter are owned by a Chinese retail called Suning, who also own Jiangsu Suning, but they closed down the club just a few months after winning the Chinese Super League due to monetary issues.
Inzaghi has spent his whole managerial career at Lazio, starting in the youth setup after retiring from playing, and has managed 242 games since being appointed first-team boss in 2016.
