Hull City scored in the final minute to secure a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Monday.

It was the home side who started the better and Matt Fryatt so nearly opened the scoring after just three minutes, but he fired just wide.

Nicky Bailey came close for the away side after five minutes, but Vito Mannone made the save.

Hull's first real chance of the afternoon came after nine minutes with an effort from Liam Cooper, but Middlesbrough goalkeeper Jason Steele pushed wide.

Middlesbrough took the lead, however, after 13 minutes when Marvin Emnes finished from close range after good work from Bailey.

Fryatt came close to levelling the score after 27 minutes, but Seb Hines produced a fine block with the goal gaping.

Josh King had the home side's best chance of the half after 37 minutes, but he struck wide from outside the area.

Emnes might have added the away side's second after 51 minutes, but he fired just wide.

Hull grabbed an equaliser, however, courtesy of King after 58 minutes when the striker finished from close range.

Chances remained few and far between as the match approached its latter stages, but it was Hull who won it late on when Fryatt struck from close range.

The result leaves Hull 10th in the Championship, while Middlesbrough remain eighth.
