Chester ruled out for up to eight weeks

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that James Chester will be sidelined for up to eight weeks with a hamstring injury.

The defender was forced off with the problem during last weekend's 3-2 win at Newcastle United in the Premier League.

"The injury is what we feared," Bruce told the club's official website.

"We feared it would be six to eight weeks just by looking at him at the time because when you do your hamstring you can hardly put one foot in front of the other and you feel very, very sore. That is how James was in the changing room afterwards."

Hull reached the fourth round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night thanks to a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.
