Curtis Davies looking forward to Sunderland tie

Hull defender Curtis Davies is looking forward to hosting Sunderland in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup having reached the last eight by beating Brighton this evening.

Hull City defender Curtis Davies has revealed that he is looking forward to facing Sunderland in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Davies scored the opening goal of the match as Hull beat Brighton & Hove Albion in a fifth-round replay this evening, holding off a late fightback from the Championship side to claim a 2-1 win.

The Tigers will now face the Black Cats at the KC Stadium in the last eight, giving manager Steve Bruce a chance to look for a third win of the season against his former club.

"Particularly playing Sunderland with this gaffer, it's going to be a big game. Obviously Sunderland are going into the [Capital One] Cup final next week as well so they'll be trying to do well in both cups and stay in the league so it will be interesting game but hopefully we will come out on top," Davies told ITV Sport.

"To get the two goals, however flukey the first one was, it was good to take that into half time but we knew we had to come out the second half and give it a good go. I think we started sloppily and once they got the goal it was a little bit of a nervy last 20 minutes, but we've done enough.

"The main thing is to get into the next round and now into a quarter-final with a home tie and a good chance of going into the semi-finals at Wembley."

Hull will face Sunderland in the quarters on March 8.
