Jose Baxter's fired United into a 19th-minute lead, latching onto a low John Brayford cross to poke past Steve Harper.

Yannick Sagbo leveled matters three minutes from the interval, smashing past Mark Howard into the roof of the net from close range to seemingly earn City a draw at the break.

However, Stefan Scougall re-established the Blades' lead moments before half time by lashing Jamie Murphy's cross past Harper.
